Small Group Counseling
As a school counselor, I love groups! It is such a great way to reach more students. I usually have between 4-6 students in each group. I always get parent permission before starting sessions. I generally have the same rules; however I let the students help me develop the group rules. I always give my group members a survey to end the last session.

Small Group Expectations
Each group member plays a part in developing the rules for the group. Members need to take ownership in their group. The group members think of the rules together. To make sure students stay on the right track in developing rules, I help facilitate what is necessary to maintain a cohesive group experience. Group members need to be in agreement of the group rules. Expectations are a must. It is important for the members to be aware of what are appropriate behaviors for the group.
